Kindergarten & First Grade have been busy with a recent trip to the San Diego Zoo in California, followed up by a trip to New York to visit the Museum of Modern Art.
Grade 2 has been having fun with symmetry. We have explored several activities and sites where students can learn about symmetry and explore it's features.
It is hard to believe that spring testing is upon us! Students in grades 3 and 4 have been working very hard to learn how to navigate the new Smarter Balanced assessment site. We have played several games including a scavenger hunt and Simon says to learn our way around the site. I feel very confident the students are very well prepared for their upcoming tests.
Next week we will begin ELA and after vacation we will finish up with Math.
Please encourage your children to get a good nights sleep, have a healthy breakfast and do their best on their assessment.

Students in second grade are being introduced to their Google accounts. This week they simply begin learning how to log in and out! The first feature that will be introduced to them is Google Draw. After learning to navigate the program, we will do a drawing project using a story book!
Students in Grade 1 are also working in the essential skills program. They are focusing on word families and short and long vowel sounds.
Children in grades 3 & 4 are learning a computer coding program called Logo Paths. Once they learn to use the program on the computer, they will begin applying math concepts that will teach missing measures, and calculating perimeter. This is all part of their Math Investigations unit they are working on in their classroom.

Update
4th Graders are busy working in their keyboarding. They are really enjoying the program and are progressing very well. They expect to be expert typers before too long!
3rd Graders are working on their coding program. It's a great program which is designed for students to work along at their own pace. Their future goal: to create some kind of computer "app"!
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders are working on a multitude of computer skills including; adjusting your own volume, opening and closing windows, switching back and forth between windows, scrolling, and navigating our schools portaportal page. All while having fun and learning!
