Update

4th Graders are busy working in their keyboarding.  They are really enjoying the program and are progressing very well.  They expect to be expert typers before too long!

3rd Graders are working on their coding program.  It's a great program which is designed for students to work along at their own pace.  Their future goal:  to create some kind of computer "app"!

Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders are working on a multitude of computer skills including; adjusting your own volume, opening and closing windows, switching back and forth between windows, scrolling, and navigating our schools portaportal page.  All while having fun and learning!

Coding:  This year we will be introducing coding to students in all grade levels.  Grade 3 had begun their coding program using code.org.  If they want to code at home, they can sign in using K-5 Portaportal.

Keyboarding:  Grade 4 will be focusing on keyboarding this year.  In class they will be using Type To Learn 4.  If they want to practice at home, there are several keyboarding websites on K-5 Portaportal.

This week we are doing our Language test in the computer lab.  This is the last of the 3 NWEA tests for the fall semester!  The testing has gone very well.  Children have been very focused, cooperative and respectful.  I am very proud of all of them for their hard work!

Next week, the computer lab will be in full swing with regular classes resuming!

The new school year is underway.  We have begun by reviewing the computer lab rules as well as safety procedures.  This year we will focus on making computers and technology work in the students education. We will be exploring many new programs and activities that will connect to what your child is learning in their classroom.  It's going to be a great year!
